Last weekend our lovely neighbour kindly offered us some of the turf from her plot. Actually I think its called a hopper. The generosity and kindness of people here never ceases to amaze me.
Mr Clev wheeled it round and dumped it outside the shed. We had thought the kids could carry and stack but after about an hour and a lot of faffing about we just got in and got the job done!
We have purchased our own hopper patch thing for next year down the road in Offaly. We get to go dig it, and stack the turf on a sunny weekend in May/June next year. Anyone want to put money on me and Ian doing the whole plot while the kids play and muck about? its a pretty safe bet!!! We will put up anyone who wants to come and help for a few days 🙂

There is nothing better than turning the corner into our little road and seeing and smelling turf smoke coming from every chimney! Such a homey and earthy smell.
This week we have mainly been getting ready for our marathon visiting session which starts tomorrow with the arrival of my BFF!!! The guest room is ready to go and I am more than ready for a big catch up.
I have also been doing lots of admin. Ive mentioned before that we are doing the Dave Ramsay program in order to get our finances in better shape, its going really well for us so far but we had a set back last week which needed a lot of organisation this week. I drive by my dream house (50K, 4 Bed farmhouse in need of a makeover on 2 acres of land 5 minutes up the road) once a week and it gives me the motivation I need to sit and budget, pay down debts, save, and keep on top of our paperwork. Its exhausting but I have faith that one day (hopefully in 5 years) we will be sat in our big farmhouse kitchen enjoying our big family!! I shall end on the note of big kitchens and big families by leaving you with a photo of our littlest lady (for now) sitting on a big stack of turf.
