Words cant really describe what an amazing birthday I had this year so I am instead going to post lots of photos with small explanations.
Also – I am still very pregnant, so anything longer than a few words tends to turn into a rant or emotional garble.
Sunday morning I picked my mum up in Moate and we all headed to the Hodson Bay hotel in Athlone for lunch.
I have never seen as much food in all my life. Thoroughly recommend their carvery for value for money and heaps of food!!! Mr Clev booked a table and also a little birthday surprise, cake!
After lunch we had a stroll in a new part of Lough Ree for us, Hodson Bay. We stopped right by BaySports and had a paddle. Bay Sports looks like the sort of place I need to go next summer when I am not preggo. I really want to give paddleboarding a go and they do it there, plus they have pedalos and all sorts of other fun stuff AND a water trampoline. Yeah man. Thats got my name all over it.
My kids have an inbuilt sense that if they are near water, and the sun is shining then its good to go for paddle time. I totally get it. I come from a long line of swimmers/paddlers/partial nudists. Mr Clev has come round to the way of the paddler too, a year ago he would have stood and said things like ‘dont get your dress wet’ and ‘they are going to get muck all over the car’, but thankfully he has changed.
Above photo illustrates my point, in fact I think my mum was the first one in, then out to liberate Vivi from the back pack so she could paddle too!!
Love how Luis and Maxi are holding hands in this one. It was so awesome of my mum to come for my birthday too. After our walk on Sunday we had ice cream, then headed home for cake and presents. I was spoiled by everyone this year. I also got enough birthday money to either buy myself a pair of fabulous DuBarry boots, OR get one direction concert tickets for me and the kids. Its a moral dilemma it really is.
On Monday morning we went to Ballinahown. Funny how over the years your priorities change. My mum asked what I wanted to do, and if she could buy me anything. Well – I wanted to go to the Ballinahown tea room for a proper tea just the girls, then I wanted her to watch the girls so I could walk around the craft shops there and really look at everything. 10 years ago that would have been old and boring but as I walked around little pokey rooms filled with breakables I was in heaven! Mum left at 4pm on the bus and I arrived home to find that my Dad, Nan and Stepmum had arrived with cake and presents. It must have been the first time in a good 10 years I had seen both my parents on my actual birthday.
We had tea and cake and sweets, then pizza for dinner and then by the time Mr Clev arrived home it was bed time.
I had such a great birthday and feel pretty good about 28 and the year ahead. Plans are paying off debt, saving, and enjoying Ireland and life in general. Nothing amazing but quite significant all the same.
